Last Saturday, my friend, Lindsey, got married!! All of my best friends from college stayed in a condo together for a long weekend. It was such a special time because several of them live really far away these days (North Carolina, Texas, California...) and we don't get to spend much time together as a group! Because Lindsey (the bride) lives in North Carolina, she was not able to come to Arkansas for us to give her a wedding shower so we decided to give her a lingerie shower/ bachelorette party combo during her wedding weekend! We wanted to go all out because it was the only shower that we were giving her! We started planning months ago and we each took a different job. I chose to do the decorations and a few other girls did the food... so I have lots of pictures of the party but I actually don't have any recipes to share this time!
This first picture is from the bridal brunch, not the lingerie shower, but it is the best picture I have of all of the bridesmaids/ hostesses together with the bride!
And here are the pictures from the shower... This first one is of the sign in table.
The words in the picture frame said, "The beginning of a wonderful weekend... The beginning of a wonderful life! Let's get Lindsey ready to be a sexy little wife!! Lindsey and Justin August 7, 2010"
The next few are of the main table. Evan and I bought the dresser in the center of the table at an antique store for $18! It had a huge crack in the back and it had seashells on the front! haha My grandfather repaired the damaged spots and removed all of the seashells and then Evan painted the zebra stripes BY HAND!!! I directed the project and painted the solid colors on the drawers... haha :)
And then there was a drink station. Guests had the option of choosing from various non-alcoholic or alcoholic beverages and we also served frozen margaritas. I wasn't in charge of bringing the drinks but I knew that the other girls were planning on bringing both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages so I thought it would be fun to make ice tubs with clever names for each category of drink. In keeping with the lingerie/ sleepwear theme, I called the non-alcoholic beverages, "Flannel Pajamas", and the alcoholic beverages, "Strip and Go Naked."
And... this was supposed to be the cake table... but my dear friend, Jaclyn, forgot to pick the cake up from the bakery!! haha She was worried that I was going to kill her... but we just turned it into a dessert table instead! :)
Just for fun, here's a picture that Jaclyn's mom took, of the adorable cake, when she picked it up from the bakery... the day after the party! haha :)
Last but not least, I put a little vase of flowers in the bathroom too... just for fun and to carry the party throughout the condo!
Congratulations to Lindsey and her new husband, Justin!! It was a fun and memorable weekend and hopefully Lindsey enjoyed her shower as much as we all enjoyed planning it!! :)
